The Center offers the following services:

OUTPATIENT SERVICES

ADMISSION CRITERIA: Services are provided for individuals experiencing stress, depression, and other mental or emotional illness.

Individual, Couple, Family, and Group Therapy provide help for a broad range of problems, including depression, anxiety, guilt, grief, unrealistic fears, relationships with spouse, children, or others—as well as school and work difficulties. Through therapy, persons are able to discover and/or develop the resources they need to make positive changes in their personal lives that lead to greater happiness and fulfillment.

Case Management Services assist individuals who have serious and persistent mental illness to develop personal resources and/or make use of existing services that allow them to maintain stability in the community.

Consulting Psychiatrist and Psychologist - Appointments are scheduled through a therapist for psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring.

24-Hour Crisis Line is available seven days a week.
Professionally trained staff provides telephone and on-site counseling or appropriate referral for individuals or their families experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, alcohol/drug problems, physical abuse, and other immediate concerns.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND PREVENTION PROGRAM SERVICES

ADMISSION CRITERIA: Services are provided for individuals and family members/significant others who experience the harmful consequences from addictive and abusive patterns (including comprehensive DUI services and other court-ordered services) of behavior.

DUI Assessment and Evaluation are available when requested by the courts or required by the Secretary of State’s Office. Remedial Alcohol/Drug classes and counseling services are also provided.

Substance Abuse Program helps alcohol or drug abusers learn new ways to cope with life while overcoming their addiction. Alcohol/drug assessments are available to determine the severity of the abuse. Counseling services and support groups are available for the family and friends of the alcohol or drug abuser to aid them in coping with stress and day-to-day problems inherent in being involved with an addicted person. Family and friends can be essential aids in the recovery process.

Prevention Programs are available to community groups, churches, schools, professional groups, etc. to increase awareness of alcohol/drug abuse, teenage depression, teen pregnancy, AIDS, teen suicide, and parenting. Professional staff provide useful information for recognizing the signs and symptoms in the early stages before serious health, personal, and school/work problems occur.

Adolescent School Based Services offers individual, group counseling and crisis intervention to drug and alcohol abusers. Through assistance of those services, individuals will learn new and healthy means to cope with life while overcoming their addiction. Services are also offered to court referred adolescents. The goal is to meet the needs of adolescents through a program specifically designed for them.

In compliance with federal regulations and to
reduce the risk of harm to children, both before
and after they are born, if requested, the
Piatt County Substance Abuse Program
offers immediate assessment and treatment.

DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES

ADMISSION CRITERIA: Services are provided for individuals who have a documented developmental disability (onset prior to age 22).

Developmental Training Services provide a wide range of services that help adults become as independent as possible. Programs are individualized to meet the needs of persons with varying abilities. Areas of training include, but are not limited to, independent living, adult daily living, pre-vocational, socialization, and community integration. Weekly outings are offered with the supervision of trained staff. Developmental Training is offered at The Center, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Respite Care Services provide up to 24 hours of care in the individual’s home, a licensed day care, or a residential setting to allow families or caregivers a break from the extra responsibilities of caring for a person with special needs. Respite care alternatives also give persons with a developmental disability a vacation from family or caregiver while being involved in new life experiences. To insure successful respite placement, arrangements must be made at least two months in advance.

Community Support Services provide a customized array of support services to children and adults who reside with their families or in a home of their own. Center staff can assist individuals to obtain supports and skills needed to live as independently as possible. Individuals may make appointments for services to accommodate their schedules.

Special Olympics, sponsored by The Center since 1972, offers many official sports such as track and field, basketball, softball, bowling, volleyball, bocce ball, equestrian, and wheelchair events.

VOCATIONAL SERVICES AND JOB PLACEMENT

ADMISSION CRITERIA: Services are provided for individuals aged 16 or older who have a disabling condition that affects their ability
to work.

Job Placement Services are provided for those who need assistance with the job search, interviewing, and training phases of employment.

Supported Employment Services are available for those who may need the assistance of a Job Coach in adjusting to the demands of employment. The Job Coach can provide job training support both on and off the job site to assist with issues such as job skills training, communication, transportation, job modifications and/or job adaptations.
