Welcome to the Center!

In last year’s Annual Report, it was our pleasure to share with you information regarding the demographics of the persons served by the Piatt County Mental Health Center’s programs. As you may recall, the majority of the clients receiving services are between the ages of 31 and 64 with more females that males attending therapy sessions.

This year’s report will focus on The Center’s efforts to make services more easily available during these financially difficult times. Access to professional, affordable services has become even more important as families experience job loss, reduced income, and reduction or loss of health insurance.

With Piatt County set in the middle of Decatur, Champaign, Bloomington, and Charleston, mental health services are available at numerous clinics and hospitals accessible to our resident. But for Piatt County residents interested in seeking services close to home, The Center has expanded services into three communities outside of the main Monticello office:

  • Atwood – Wednesday
  • Cerro Gordo – Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
  • Mansfield – Thursday

If you wish to make an appointment at any of our alternate sites, please call 217-762-5371.

Another very important step The Center has taken to reach the youth of our county is to have trained professionals in the various county schools. Our Prevention Specialist is in many of the county’s grade and middle schools. Her focus is on education and prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. Her approved curriculum provides the children an opportunity to gather important information in a safe and fun environment.

Several of The Center’s therapists spend time in many of the area high schools. The therapists make themselves easily available to students who wish to sign up for an appointment or a group session.

Most importantly, The Center’s services are open to all Piatt County residents regardless of their income or health insurance status. Should you, a friend, or loved one have problems or concerns that are having a negative impact on your life, please consider The Center as your partner in helping you and others return to a healthy life.

We hope that our four locations will make our services easily available to all. If you need us, please give us a call.

Sincerely,

Susan M. Lochbaum, Executive Director
